Mission:
Our mission is to issue policies for the correct operation, supervision and control of the free trade zones, to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Law and its regulations. To promote in Ecuador and to the world the free trade zones, defining this regime as a tool of competitiveness that will generate productive employment, foreign exchange, domestic and foreign investment, technology transfer and the development of depressed areas in Ecuador.
Vision:
We want to become an efficient control institution who can invigorate the use of the free trade zones in our country, providing a functional, ethical, flexible, modern and focused service in order to consolidate and diversify our exportable markets.
The National Council of Free Trade Zones (CONAZOFRA acronym in Spanish) bellow the Ecuadorian Presidency, is an autonomous institution with its own financial and operational administration. CONAZOFRA`S primary function is to be the leading institution of the Free trade zones in Ecuador
Functions:
• To make the general policies for operation and supervision of the free trade zones.
• To propose the issuance, amendment or repeal of laws or regulations relating to the free trade zones and their activities.
• To analyze the applications for the establishment of free zones and approve or disapprove them.
• To approve the internal regulations of each zone, proposed by their developers for their operation.
• To encourage the promotion of domestic and foreign trade zones to ensure their strengthening.
• To answer inquires about the implementation of the Law
• To implement administrative penalties by the Law
• To ensure compliance with the provisions of this Law and its regulations.
Objectives:
General Objective: The current reform to the Law of the Free Zones pronounced on April 11, 2005, set as main goals: to create, stimulate and regulate the system of free trade zones in the country, within a clear, stable and agile legal framework to ensure their optimal operation of the institution.
